Until September 30 in Skopje, more than 400 young people from 8 countries are enjoying a unique experience of cinema, creativity, intercultural dialogue, and participation, with the support of the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture
The 14th edition of the Giffoni Macedonia Youth Film Festival is continuing with great participation in Skopje, where it will run until September 30. More than 400 young people from eight countries are taking part in an intense experience of cinema, discussion, and exchange, confirming the festival’s role as one of the most important events dedicated to younger generations in the Balkan region. This year’s theme, “The Impossible Things,” guides participants through a reflection on today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities through the universal language of cinema.
The venues of the Youth Cultural Center and the Cinematheque of North Macedonia are hosting screenings, meetings, and debates featuring young jurors, who are engaging with films from different countries and cultures. This ongoing dialogue represents the essence of the Giffoni model: listening to young people’s voices and valuing their perspectives.
Organized by Planet-M in collaboration with Giffoni Experience, the festival continues to establish itself as one of the leading events for young audiences in Southeastern Europe. The initiative is supported by the Film Agency of North Macedonia, the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of Italy in Skopje, the Italian Cultural Institute of Belgrade, and other institutional partners who contribute to the project’s growth year after year. The Project Manager of Giffoni Macedonia is Marco Cesaro, Head of the Special Projects Department.
Demonstrating the strength of Giffoni’s international network, a delegation of young Italians is also attending, including Chiara Barra, Alessia Cucci, Ileana D’Acunto, Maria Francesca D’Alessandro, Christian D’Arcangelo, Caterina Di Domenico, Ginevra Farina, Nicola Giorgio, Maia Gressani, Vittoria Mammone, Aniello Marrandino, and Sara Milione, accompanied by Erica De Lisio and Damiano La Salvia.
Particular attention is being given to the festival’s workshop activities, which are engaging hundreds of participants in programs focused on creativity, innovation, and sustainability. Workshops, interactive activities, and discussion sessions provide young people with opportunities to develop skills, share ideas, and build relationships that transcend geographical boundaries.
As the festival’s closing day on September 30 approaches, anticipation is growing for the awards that will be decided by the young juries. This especially meaningful moment celebrates the value of active participation and once again confirms the central role of young people in Giffoni’s international journey.
