CAFUNÈ
Alma, a solitary refugee child, is thrust back into her traumatic past when her doll falls into the swimming pool, mirroring the shipwreck of the refugee boat where she was the lone survivor.
Director's Bio
Lorena Ares and Carlos F. De Vigo co-manage the Dr. Platypus & Ms. Wombat studios. Carlos’ debut feature is the 2D animated film MEMORIAS DE UN HOMBRE EN PIJAMA (MEMOIRS OF A MAN IN PAJAMAS), nominated for the Goya and Platino Awards, among others, and winner of the Gaudí Award. He is the director and writer of the animated short film MORTI, with over 20 selections. Carlos has contributed to more than a dozen feature films. Lorena has worked as an animator on films such as EL SUEÑO DE UNA NOCHE DE SAN JUAN (Midsummer Dream), ESPÍRITU DEL BOSQUE (SPIRIT OF THE FOREST, in competition at Giffoni Film Festival in 2008) SPIRIT OF THE FOREST, and HOLY NIGHT!. Her debut feature film as a director, HANNA Y LOS MONSTRUOS (HANNA AND THE MONSTERS, 2023) has received Goya and Gaudí nominations. Together, they directed the short film AMANECE LA NOCHE MÁS LARGA (IT DAWNS THE LONGEST NIGHT) nominated for the Goya and winner of the Biznaga de Plata at the Málaga Film Festival.
