CODE OF CONDUCT
Welcome to the Giffoni Jury! You are going to participate in one of the most important film and culture events in the world, and we are just very happy that you have decided to be a part of it. You are one of the protagonists, a juror, a true giffoner! Being a juror is about sharing, dialogue and discovery. To ensure that you and all jurors have a special experience, we ask you to follow the simple guidelines below:
1. RESPECT AND KINDNESS
Giffoni celebrates diversity. Different cultures, stories and ways of thinking come together here. Each person deserves to be welcomed with openness and respect, and no discriminatory behaviour or language is accepted. The unique exchange encouraged by the festival requires mutual respect: treat everyone with kindness, listen without prejudice and use words that show sensitivity and consideration. Opinions that diverge from yours are a valuable source of enrichment; in fact, what makes the Giffoni experience special and unforgettable is precisely this great variety of perspectives.
2. DEBATES
Every screening is followed by a crucial moment: the debate. Often enriched by the presence of the film directors and/or cast members, debates provide a valuable opportunity for reflection, exchange and in-depth analysis. It is essential that each juror participates in the debates attentively and respectfully, also bearing in mind the large number of attendees and the time constraints. We will do our best to let as many jurors as possible have their say, though it is inevitable that not everyone will be able to speak. In any case, carefully listening to others’ observations is just as important. A facilitator will supervise the talks, while the Jury Office team will provide support and maintain order. Sharing ideas is part of your role, but remember to do it with respect, sensitivity and openness to dialogue.
3. COOPERATION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You are part of a group. This means that it is essential to be committed, stick to schedules and respect appointments. You will not be allowed to enter the cinema late or leave your seat before the end of the activities. Your cooperation is of great importance for the jury to function successfully.
4. BADGES
Your badge is personal and unique: keep it carefully and always carry it with you during the festival days. It is your pass to access all Giffoni activities and enjoy the festival experience to the full. Should you lose it, inform the monitors or contact the Jury Office right away. Please remember that the badge is not transferable: any improper use will result in its withdrawal and the exclusion of its owner from the jury.
5. MONITORS (Giffoni team)
The monitors are specialised staff of the Jury Office in charge of accompanying the jurors throughout the festival activities. They are an essential point of reference: you can turn to them for information, clarifications on activities, schedules and the general programme of Giffoni. They are also in charge of ensuring that the festival rules are properly followed. All jurors must recognise the authority of the monitors and cooperate with them. In case of non-cooperation or inappropriate behaviour, measures such as temporary or permanent exclusion from jury activities may be taken.
6. FILM SCREENINGS
The use of smartphones and any other electronic device is forbidden during the screenings. Pay full attention to the films: you are not just a spectator, you are a juror! You play the most important role at the festival, and your ability to observe, understand and analyse the films in competition is absolutely crucial. Also, the use of devices may disturb the other jurors. Monitors are entitled to make sure that this rule is respected and, in case of infringements, they have a duty to intervene and take the necessary measures.
7. BOOKING PREMIERES AND SPECIAL EVENTS
Book seats for premieres or special events out of competition only if you are sure you can attend. Every seat counts and by reserving one needlessly you may be preventing someone else from enjoying a desired experience. If you book a seat for an event and then do not attend for no valid reason, consequences such as restricted access to other activities or future events may follow.
8. HAVE FUN!
Giffoni is a unique opportunity to grow, make new friends, enjoy cinema in a very special way and discover new passions. Make the most of the wide range of activities and spare moments to socialise and let the festival energy get to you: from the Street Fest shows to concerts, from creative workshops to sports activities, each and every corner of Giffoni is set up to bring you fun and memorable moments. Enjoy this amazing adventure to the fullest!
