È SUCCESSO

Naples, present day. A group of pre-adolescents from the Luzzatti-Ascarelli neighborhood attend an acting course held in the theater of the Murialdo Oratory, a historic landmark of the area. The laboratory is the subject of a documentary that intends to intercept the acting game and the development of the imagination beyond stereotypes.
Since the first meeting these kids are capable of complex and interesting thinking on social dynamics and the relationship between image and essence, disorienting adults who are too inclined to (pre)judge the world of youth based on geographical and generational concepts and clichés. The point at which their chronological age shines through most clearly is the one at which the confusion between the concepts of success and popularity is felt.
For these kids, successful individuals are only the famous ones: actors, singers, footballers, stylists, writers. When they are asked to interpret a famous character of their own free choice, however, they stammer and do not seem capable of developing complete profiles. Yet, the final audition, in front of a director present in the room, is getting closer and closer. What will they invent to take advantage of their opportunity to find success? And above all, what meaning will this word have for them at the end of the course?
