The feature films scheduled for today, tell stories about family andthe importance of never giving up and fighting to the end, in the name of one’s ideals.
The first jurors called in to view feature film are Elements +6 at 10 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. in Sala Lumière with the animated film JUST SUPER (Norway 2022) directed by Rasmus A. Sivertsen. The life of young Hedvig, a video game enthusiast, is disrupted by the untimely replacement of her father, the town’s superhero. Soon she realizes that she is no match for him, having to face too many complex challenges. For this reason, the man decides to turn his attention to his nephew Adrian. This decision, leads Hedvig to take over the family inheritance.
At the same time, also at 10 a.m. and repeated at 4 p.m., Elements +10 jurors will watch the film TOTEM (Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany 2022) directed by Sander Burger in the Alberto Sordi Hall. Ama is a young swimmer who spends her free time with her best friend Thijs preparing for the upcoming swimming championships. Although originally from Senegal, she feels like a perfect Dutch girl at heart. The news of her family’s deportation makes Ama dream of her homeland through thestories her mother tells and a magical hedgehog, who will play the role of the family’s totem.
The first film in the Gex Doc section will see jurors Christian Einshoj’s documentary THE MOUNTAINS (Denmark and Norway 2023) at 4 p.m. in Galileo Hall. Twenty years after the death of his brother, the filmmaker’s family faces serious difficulties, such as the loss of his father’s job. This inconvenience leads him to make the decision to sell the family home. After Christian’s arrival, the boy tries to shed light on what happened 25 years ago – with the help of old videos and photos.
Finally, on the first day of the festival, the Parental Experience section begins at 10 a.m. in the Sala Verde. They will be able to see the film MIA (Italy, 2023) directed by Ivano De Matteo. The quiet life of a family is disrupted by the arrival of a boy, who soon turns out to be manipulative towards a young teenage girl. When the girl manages to tell her father everything, he decides to destroy her. This decision leads her father to make a drastic decision.
Please note that for these last two screenings, admission is free until the auditorium is full, with priority given to parents of jurors in the Elements +6 and Elements +10 sections.
