The film is a perfect love story tainted with prejudice, skillfully highlighted and revealed: a Sicily ready to reveal itself, beautiful and melancholic, while on television the 1982 World Cup is broadcast and Italians hope for the World Cup, two teenagers dream of living their love without fear. Gianni and Nino meet by chance and then fall in love by choice. Their love will be pure and sincere, but it cannot escape the prejudices of the country that neither understands nor accepts it. A feeling that will cause suffering, conflict and pain. But it will try to become stronger, beyond all borders. The film is dedicated to Giorgio and Antonio, victims of the Giarre crime, which occurred in 1980 in the province of Catania and is produced by Eleonora Pratelli. Nine journeys between Greece and the Balkans to report on the greatest human tragedy of our time. The documentary depicts the lives of those who populate the roads to Europe in search of a better future – like ants, to quote Steinbeck’s ‘The Grapes of Wrath’. The work, produced by Duzzle Communication, tells these stories and gives a name and a face to those who, despite themselves, are the protagonists. Formiche is created in limbo, from the tragic stories of those who engage in a cruel game that represents the only faint hope of a new life. The narrator of this latest work is Nicolosi himself, an investigative journalist and at the same time a special envoy who often spends time in vulnerable areas away from migration routes, working on social issues from a civilian point of view.

Da domani mi alzo tardi narrates and dreams of the possibility of an eternal and absolute love that transcends time, that lives on while life goes on, and where death can be seen as an event that is not necessarily final. The screenplay was written by Anna Pavignano, who has experienced a beautiful love story with Massimo and also works as a co-writer on his films. Veneruso will then speak about his book “Il mio verbo preferito è evitare” (Rizzoli), a tribute in words and pictures – many of them unpublished and from the family’s private archive – in honour of the great Massimo Troisi on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Dynamo Camp is the perfect place, here there is only the present, friendship and joy. The adventures of the young protagonists are punctuated by the days of the week, and through activities and group life, fears and bad memories are overcome. Here the children seem like giants, their young life conveys positivity and harmony. With this film I tried to portray the strength, courage and will to live of one hundred ‘superheroes’. This film is dedicated to all those who have helped fill the walls and forests with pure magic during the fifteen years I have spent at Dynamo Camp. Every breath, every smile of an adult or child here has been transformed into positive energy.

27 JULY – SUMMER LIMITED EDITION
DeAKids, the Sky channel 601, brings a great novelty to Giffoni on July 27: the series TV SUMMER LIMITED EDITION, the first teen comedy with pink and green tones, directed by Mario Vitale, conceived and produced by KidsMe, the Children Content Factory of the De Agostini Editore Group, with the support of the Calabria Film Commission Foundation. SUMMER LIMITED EDITION is a romantic story for the whole family, linked to the theme of green activism and set in a fascinating and exclusive scenario: the Ionian coast of Calabria and the forests of Sila. The main characters are teenagers, but in parallel a story arc develops in which adults are also involved. The green side of this piece is wonderfully enhanced by the area of Calabria. The beaches, the green hinterland and the old villages with their beauty are, in a way, the great co-protagonists of this series. As in all pink stories, Summer Limited Edition is about feelings, jealousy, rivalry and relationships. With simplicity and empathy, an attempt is made to narrate the unrepeatable human period of adolescence with its immense emotions. The environmental theme thus becomes an opportunity for personal growth for the protagonists during this time of transition to adulthood. The result is a modern teenage love story that also manages to address very current issues, such as the return to kissing, hugging and human contact after the long winter of the pandemic. An exceptional cast completes the series with Alessio Praticò (“Boris”/Disney Plus; “Odio il Natale”/Netflix); Ilenia Lazzarin (“Un Posto al Sole”/Rai); Luca Seta (“Noi”/Rai; “Lea- Un nuovo giorno”/Rai); Francesco Mura(“Unlockdown”/DeAkids; “La Befana vien di Notte”/Lucky Red, Universal Pictures); Nicole Sorace, a student of the Acting School of Calabria (“The Good Mothers”/Disney Plus) and many other young actors, many of them from Calabria.

28 JULY – DI4RI WITH NETFLIX
Like blank pages to be filled, like precious papers that hold secrets, like a special place that holds thoughts and desires. Like DI4RI, the Netflixseries for teenagers that narrates the everyday life of boys and girls with their feelings and fears, their curiosities and insecurities, their loves and passions. At Giffoni, on JULY 28, ANDREA ARRU, FLAVIA LEONE and FIAMMA PARENTE will write special pages together with the giffoners: a preview of the first episode of the second season between new and old encounters, more and more captivating and surprising stories. The protagonists will live their third and last year in middle school. An unforgettable year full of challenges that will end with the first important test of their lives, the eighth-grade exam, and with a crucial decision: What’s next? Will their friendship survive the separation when each has to go their own way? The three young protagonists will bring some of their secrets to the place where children always find answers, where magic is an everyday form of beauty, and they will face the judges to tell their stories. What happened to the 2nd D boys after the occupation? Will they have stayed together in class at school in Marina Piccola? And will Livia forgive Pietro after learning about the bet? The second season of Di4ri begins with the answers to these questions and the emergence of a new character. The points of view of Pietro, Livia, Daniele, Isabel, Giulio, Monica, Arianna and Mirko are joined by another voice: that of Bianca, Giulio’s cousin, a talented and sunny girl who knows how to integrate herself into the group with her vitality and ability to understand others. An emotional journey through rebellion, fear of the future, self-affirmation and female bullying, the feeling of belonging to a group, the acceptance of the new partners of the parents and the homogeneous family, love and friendship: what holds it all together is the truth and realism with which the boys’ stories and emotions were told in the first season, and which will also be the strength of the second season.

Noi Siamo Leggenda, the new fantasy-tinged teen drama centred on the stories of a group of teenagers who suddenly discover they are endowed with superpowers, will be presented to jurors on July 28, starring Emanuele Di Stefano, Giulia Lin, Milo Roussel and Sofya Gershevich. Rather, this is a thoroughly character-driven coming-of-age story in which superpowers become a metaphor for the difficulties and opportunities teenagers face, and for their tremendous potential.
