ISLE CHILD
Si Miller leads an idyllic teenage life in Concord, Massachusetts, enjoying the company of his baseball teammates and the unwavering support of his loving parents. His confident self-image crumbles when he receives a call from an adoption agency, informing him of his South Korean birth mother’s illness. The news complicates Si’s perfectly constructed self-image, thrusting him into a complex space between his Korean heritage and his American identity.
Thomas Percy Kim is a Korean-American writer/director. His debut stop-motion short film, TREJUR, screened at festivals including Heartland (Indyshorts) and Busan International, and received the Harry Winston Brilliant Futures award and a YoungArts gold medal. Before attending the University of Southern California film school, his live-action short, SI, starring Ki Hong Lee (MAZE RUNNER), premiered at LAAPFF 2020 and was subsequently sold and distributed by HBO Max.
His latest short film, BUSAN, 1999, is distributed by Argo and Zen Movies, and won Best Narrative Short Film at the San Francisco Film Festival and the BFI Future Film Festival, qualifying it for the 2023 Oscars.
Thomas has received several accolades and fellowships. After successfully raising over $1 million through crowdfunding and premiering his debut feature, ISLE CHILD, at the San Francisco International Film Festival 2025, Kim is now developing his second feature, STARING AT THE SUN. Meanwhile, through his YouTube series THE VANDALIST, which documents his creative journey, he cultivates his filmmaking community and online academy.
