It’s quiet now
A mother and her child prepare to leave their home under the pressure of an approaching threat. Rather than depicting violence directly, IT’S QUIET NOW focuses on moments of hesitation, fear, and attachment to everyday life objects, routines, and spaces that suddenly become fragile.
Flaka Kokolli is an animator and filmmaker from Kosovo. She graduated in 2019 with a BA in Animation from the Metropolitan University of Budapest. Her engagement with animation began in 2013 at the Anibar International Animation Festival, where she evolved from volunteer to workshop tutor, film selector, and festival interviewer. In 2020, she founded the Prishtina-based animation studio Flammorum, producing short films, animated music videos, and other projects. Her films MARDHE (2021) and SHPIJA (2022) have screened internationally, receiving awards including Special Mentions from Dokufest (2021) and Anibar (2022), the Distribution Award at Dokufest (2022), Best Film in Albanian at Tirana Film Festival (2022), recognition at Cannes Short Film Corner through ANNY: Animation Nights New York. Her 2025 film 17 O’CLOCK won Best Short Animation and Best New Artist.
