The eighth day of #Giffoni53 begins at 10 a.m. in Sala Truffaut with the screening of ROCK PAPER GRENADE, a feature film in competition for the GENERATOR +16 section.

The eighth day of #Giffoni53 begins at 10 a.m. in Sala Truffaut with the screening of ROCK PAPER GRENADE, a feature film in competition for the GENERATOR +16 section. Felix is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, a former counterintelligence officer. Felix’s life is ruined by alcohol, even if at the same time he is a charismatic person. His story that is dangerous and funny at the same time.

At 2:30 p.m., Sala Truffaut becomes the space for GENERATOR +13. In programme for them is BIG BOYS by Corey Sherman (USA 2023). The feature film in competition features Jamie, who will have to come to terms with who she really is and whom shereally wants: she falls in love with Dan, her cousin’s new boyfriend.

In SALA SORDI, at 10 a.m. and again at 5 p.m., ELEMENTS +10 jurors will attend the screening of THE LULUS, directed by Yann Samuell (France, Luxembourg, 2022). It is 1914, August: the German army gains ground in France and four boys are abandoned during the evacuation of their orphanage. They are not prepared for an adventure into the unknown, but they will discover thatthe supposed enemies will turn out to be valuable allies.

In Sala Lumiere there will be NEW TALES OF FRANZ by Johannes Schmid (Austria, 2023), on repeat at 4 p.m. The feature film, in competition for the ELEMENTS +6 section, is the story of Franz and his friends Gabi and Eberhard’s 007 detective vacation. The three begin a whirlwind investigation that will uncover unexpected secrets.

In SALA GALILEO, for the GENERATOR +18 section, ELAHA, directed by Milena Aboyan (Germany 2023), is being screened. Elaha is a young Kurdish-German woman torn between unconditional love for her family and her aspirations. It is a journey about emancipation.

At 4 p.m., in competition for the GEX DOC section, SALA GALILEO hosts a screening of WHO AM I SMILING FOR?, directed by Eeva Mägi (Estonia, 2023). It is a film about the love between a mother and her children: nothing can separate them, not even death.

In the Sala Verde, out of competition for the PARENTAL EXPERIENCE, PIANO PIANO is being screened, a story about the suburbs of Naples in the era of the first Scudetto. In 1987, Anna is 13 years old and plays the piano. Her mother pins all her hopes on her: she wants her to live like she was never allowed to. Anna meets Peppino and with him she will say goodbye to her childhood.
