THE CHAOS SISTERS FEAT. PENGUIN PAUL
The chaos has four names: Livi, Tessa, Malea and Kenny. The sisters have nothing in common. Except for the surname Martini. Which makes each of them more than fine. As you can’t choose your family, you have to try to have as little to do with them as possible. But that soon changes. The reason is Paul, a penguin. Paul is kidnapped from the zoo, but manages to escape to the Martini via a circuitous route. The Chaos Sisters find out that a Magician Duo is behind the kidnapping. They want to make the penguin part of their show in order to revive their faltering career in Las Vegas. The sisters realize that they have to stop this plan and take the penguin back to his family at the zoo, with the help of their neighbor boy Deniz.
Director's Bio
Mike Marzuk
The German film director, screenwriter, musician and film editor Mike Marzuk was born in 1969 in Landsberg am Lech. In 2006, he directed, wrote, edited, co-produced and co-composed the low-budget film WEIßT WAS GEIL WÄR…?! (l.t.YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE AWESOME…?!) which was released in cinemas in 2007. The film won him the New Faces Award for Best Debut Film in 2008. In 2007, Mike Marzuk directed the youth film SOMMER (2008), which was seen by over a million viewers. He directed all five films in the film series FÜNF FREUND (THE FAMOUS FIVE 2012 – 2018) and wrote the screenplay for the fourth and fifth installments. THE FAMOUS FIVE and THE FAMOUS FIVE 2 were both screened at the Giffoni Film Festival in 2012 and 2013. Most recently, Mike Marzuk directed the feature film DIE CHAOSSCHWESTERN UND PINGUIN PAUL (2023), for which he also wrote the screenplay.
Director's Note
“We want to make films that entertain and are fun. When adults come to see one of our films, they should say afterwards: “The children thought it was great and I enjoyed watching the film too.” It is important to me that we give people a good time in our 90-minute slot. You should laugh, you should get involved, you can be emotionally touched. But above all, you should leave the cinema in a good mood.
I was particularly attracted by the idea of filming a story with a penguin at the center. I immediately asked myself: How can that work, how is that supposed to work? I found it exciting. It was new to me. We went about it with great enthusiasm and had lots of great ideas.”
