Determined to go on a wild trip together with her daughter, the two set off in a battered sports car to join her grandmother in Poland. After her initial enthusiasm, Lu becomes aware of her mother Karina’s unusual character. At that point it will be inevitable to figure out which path to take.
Next, again in the Sala Truffaut, Generator +16 jurors at 2.30 p.m. will have the opportunity to watch BITTERSWEET RAIN (Brazil 2022) directed by Haroldo Borges. A teenage boy living in a small town in the very heart of Brazil comes to terms with a degenerative eye disease, which will inevitably lead him to blindness. Resigned to this fate, he nevertheless tries to enjoy life and his (unrequited) first love for as long as he possibly can.
In the Sala Alberto Sordi at 5 p.m., the children of Elements +10 will watch the film SCRAPPER (UK 2022) directed by Charlotte Regan. In the suburbs of London, lives 12-year-old Georgie, raised by her mother, the young girl is faced with having to live alone when the woman passes away. Despite the hardships, Georgie tries to prove to herself and those around her that she can go through life without anyone’s help. Changing the girl’s plans is the arrival of Jason, a 30-year-old man who introduces himself as her father and whom she has not seen for many years. Why has he come back to her? What are his plans?
The young jurors of the Elements +6 section will be called to the Sala Lumière to see the animated film TONY, SHELLY AND THE MAGIC LIGHT (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary 2023) directed by Filip Pošivač. Eleven-year-old Tony was born with a very special characteristic: he glows. For this reason, his parents try to protect him from the outside world by keeping him locked up at home. The arrival of a girl named Shelly in the building marks his first approach with a girl of his own age. But Shelly also has a special secret: she is a magic torch. Together they embark on an adventure that leads them to discover what lies in the dark places of the house.
The Generator +18 section at 10.00 a.m. in the Sala Galileo will watch IL PIÚ BEL SECOLO DELLA MIA VITA (Italy 2023) directed by Alessandro Bardani. According to law, a child not recognised at birth cannot know the identity of his or her natural parents before the age of 100. Giovanni, to draw public attention to this absurd rule, comes across Gustavo, the only centenarian not recognised at birth still alive. Although the elderly gentleman has no intention of making use of this law, a very special and unexpected friendship blossoms between the two.
As for the Gex Doc section, they will have the opportunity to watch the documentary BLOOM at 4 p.m. in the Sala Galileo. Through web videos and live streaming, this documentary delves into the lives of three groups of girls during their teenage years and with all the paranoia and inner struggles of the case.
