Mehrdad Jalali was born in 1986, city of Esfahan, Iran. He holds an MA in English literature. He started script writing in 2014 at Iranian Youth Cinema Society. Then he took courses in filmmaking there in 2015 and made student short films. In 2016 he made his first professional short film, THE APPLE ORCHARD. In 2018, he was accepted to Asghar Farhadi’s master class in Tehran and made the shor film THE CIRCLE in the same year. THE POMEGRANATE (2024) is his last short film.
